Isn't it easier for me to just download a "one-click-fix" like PC Doctor etc, and save money?
Probably not. There are many solutions available which claim to offer a downloadable solution to all your IT problems. If those solutions were so great, there would be no need for real IT support companies.
WCS have (on many occasions) been involved in repairing the damage that one click fix solutions have caused, sometimes they have even deleted important system files from machines. We also ofter encounter PC's and Laptops at home and in business that have major problems and have sometimes several of these solutions installed. These products range, but many name names such as "PC Cleaner", "Registry Mechanic" "System Toolkit" etc. There are too many to list here, but the bottom line is that by using some of these all-in-one fix solutions, you may be causing yourself more problems, requiring more professional attention. Some of these products have also been known to conflict with your existing antivirus, leaving you more vulnerable to threats than if you hadn't used them.
There are also many malware variants claiming to be antivirus or PC repair tools. If you ever see a warning whilst visiting a web page which advises that problems have been found and the program advertised isn't one you have installed, exit the page (click the X at the top right) immediately. There is no way these products could scan your machine unless you had already given them full administrative access to it. Most of these products attempt to scare you into installing them. Please use extreme care when allowing unknown applications to run on your PC. Your security may be at risk if you do.
